JUDY RUTLEDGE MONTGOMERY
Judy Rutledge Montgomery was born November 28, 1943 in Stilwell, Oklahoma, the daughter of John Batt and Vera (Keys) Batt Auffet. She married Gary Kerr Montgomery in November 1996 in Siloam Springs, Arkansas. He preceded her in death on April 2, 2009 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Mrs. Montgomery passed this life on January 18, 2010 in Ft. Smith, Arkansas after having attained the age of 66 years, 1 month and 20 days. Survivors are: 2 sons: Lance Montgomery of Sallisaw, Ok. and Dennis Rutledge of Muldrow, Ok.4 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild 2 sisters: Linda McBroom of Stilwell, Ok. and Kathy Caudle of Prairie Grove, Ar.3 brothers: Ronnie Batt of Salina, Ok., Stephen Batt of Sallisaw, Ok. and Johnny Batt of Tulsa, Ok. several nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Mrs. Letitia Victoria Denbo, wife of J.A. Denbo, aged 63 years, died at her home in this city, Monday night about nine o' clock. Thursday April 5th, Mrs. Denbo was severely burned by the explosion of a lamp, at the time, though her burns were severe, all had hopes of her recovery, but the nervous shock was too great, and though she battled bravely for her life, Friday evening her spirit freed itself from its earthly tenement, winged its flight to "that house not made with hands in the heavens". Letitia Victoria Keys was born near Tahlequah, Indian Territory, January third Eighteen hundred forty three, and was married to J. A. Denbo in 1871. She was the mother of seven children, six of whom, Mesdames, John McKeehan, Milton Thompson, Thomas Daugherty, Robert, Oce, and John Denbo, survive. The funeral was held Tuesday afternoon at the family residence by her Pastor, Rev. Haymes, and her remains laid to rest in the family Cemetery, near the home where she had spent so many years. Mrs. Denbo was a genial, warm hearted Christian woman, doing all the good that she possibly could without show or ostentation. She was charitable to all, and comforted those in sickness and distress. Graveside services for Cleo May Southern, 93, of Muldrow are being held at 2p.m. Wednesday at Sallisaw City Cemetery with the Rev. C. H. Ramey officiating. Mrs. Southern was born August 3, 1904 in Muldrow, Sequoyah District Oklahoma, Indian Territory to George and Amy (Shaver) Keys. She died Monday April 13, 1998 in Muldrow. She married Wes Southern, who preceded her in death in 1958. Survivors include one son, Hugh; two grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was born in Sallisaw, OK on November 28, 1920 the son of Louis Kesterson Keys Sr and Dolly (Garrett) Keys. Mr. Keys was a veteran of WW II serving 4 years in the Army Air Corp and was a registered member of the Cherokee Nation. He was employed by General Motors Frigidaire division for 30 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter Grace in 1991, 2 brothers Carnell and Ted Keys, a sister Bonnie Keys. 09 November 1929 - 07 November 2000 Services for William Boyce KEYS, 71, of Cerritos, Calif., were held at 1 p.m. Nov. 11, at Luyben Family Bellflower Mortuary in Bellflower, Calif. Mr. KEYS was born Nov. 9, 1929, in Sallisaw, to David Henley KEYS and Agnes (FULLBRIGHT) KEYS. He died Nov. 7, 2000, at his home. Survivors include his wife, Joan; five children, Linda, David, Glenn, Erin and Paula; three sisters, Marge, Ellen, Jeanne; eight grandchildren; and many other family and friends. Mr. KEYS was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Kate BOOK and Freda WALCZYK. Arrangements were under the direction of Luyben Family Bellflower Mortuary in Bellflower.
DELBERT CYRIL KEYS
Delbert Cyril, 90, of Spencer, OK passed away December 11, 2002 in Manhattan, KS. He was born September 9, 1912 to Theodore & Glenna Smith Keys at Tahlequah, OK. Delbert was united in marriage on December 12, 1934 to his wife Ellen, who preceded him in death. He was a farmer and business owner, but was most known for the love of his family and his Lord. He is survived by 1 daughter: Reba Jean Larson & husband John Philip; 3 sons: Louis Keys & wife, Gladys of Pueblo, CO, Ferrel Keys & wife Bobi of Rye, CO, Jerrel Keys of St. George, KS, 10 grandchildren & 21 great grandchildren, 1 brother: Merlin Keys of Ft. Collins, CO. In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to the scholarship fund at the Harrah Church of Nazarene. Services will be held at the Bill Eisenhour Southeast Chapel at 10:15 a.m. on Saturday, December 14, 2002 with interment at Star Valley Cemetery in Chandler, OK. CLINT RUFUS KEYS
Clint Rufus Keys, 77 of Midland, went home to be with his Heavenly Father on February 3, 2010. He was born on January 7, 1933 in Cherokee County, OK to the late John Dudley and Minnie Alice Keys. On January 11, 1977, he married the love of his life, Hattie Smart; they were married for 53 years. Clint enjoyed music, hunting, fishing, and playing with his grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents; one sister Mary Richie; eight brothers: James, Levi, Lawrence, Walter, Roxie, Kale, Guy Dudley, and Ellis; and one grandson Jeremy Washburn. He leaves behind his loving wife, Hattie Keys of Midland; one daughter Ann Bevis of Midland; three sons: Clint Keys of Tahlequah, OK, Dale Keys and Shane Keys both of Midland; one sister Nina Welch of Bakersfield, CA; twelve grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren. A funeral service is set for Sat, Feb. 6, 2010 at 1:00 pm at First Assembly of God with pastors Mike Hanks and Andy Hill officiating. Interment will follow in Serenity Memorial Gardens. Funeral services are under the direction of Lewallen-Garcia-Pipkin Funeral Home.
JAMES EDWARD RIGGS
James and I share the same Grandmother-Otta Gertrude Keys. His father was Hughley Logan Reese aka Buster Brown Riggs.
Mr. James Edward Riggs, 67, entered into rest, Tuesday, June 9, 2009, at Sparks Regional Medical Center-Hospice, in Fort Smith, Arkansas. He was born March 17, 1942 in Fort Smith, Ar.
Mr. Riggs was retired from Southern Steel and Wire in Fort Smith. He enjoyed fishing, Golden Gloves boxing, stock car racing, and spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Mr. Riggs is survived by two sons: Charles (Eddie) Riggs and his wife:Sandy, of Olive Branch, Mississippi, and Rodney James Riggs and his wife: Willow of Eldridge, Iowa; a daughter: Laura Riggs Webb and her husband:John of Oxford, Mississippi; two brothers: Charles Lee Riggs of Charleston, South Carolina, and Buster Leroy Riggs of Roland,Oklahoma; two sisters: Dorothy Riggs Coleman of Benton, Arkansas, and Wanda Riggs Brown of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and four precious grandchildren and one very special great-grandchild; his longtime companion: Laverne; her children: Doug Smith and Jennifer Simpson of Van Buren, Ar; and her nine grandchildren and one great grandchild; and many good friends.
Funeral service was held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, June 12, 2009, at Lewis Funeral Chapel in Fort Smith. Reverend George Crowden officiated the service
Mr. Riggs was laid to rest at Mayberry Cemetery in Sebastian County.
Pallbearers were: Thomas Rawson, Larry Thomas, John Clark, Doug Smith, Nate Simpson, and D.J. Simpson.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel in Fort Smith.
Esther Mae (Bybee) Keys
Esther Mae (Bybee) Keys 1916 - 2011 Esther Mae (Bybee) Keys, 95 years of age, daughter of Alta Mabel Bybee and Clyde Samuel Bybee, died June 11, 2011 at Canyonwood Care Facility in Redding California. She was born in Oklahoma City, OK on March 10, 1916. She married John Riley "Parker" Keys of Tahlequah, OK in 1934. They relocated to Wasco, CA in 1942 and to Redwood City, CA in 1959. After Parker's death she lived in Wasco, Hayward and Redding, CA. She was an avid and accomplished quilter, active in her church and an unbelievably good Scrabble player. After arriving in California, she worked with the family as farm workers harvesting cotton, potatoes, grapes, apricots and prunes from Bakersfield to Tulelake. Later, she earned her certificate as a Licensed Vocational Nurse working in Nursing homes in Hayward, CA. She is survived by two of 11 siblings, a brother Jack Bybee and sister Geraldine Akins, both of Oklahoma. She is also survived by daughters Gladys (Fred) Canfield, Virginia (Joe) Goslar, both of Roy, Washington, Nina Delmon (the late Ed) of San Francisco, Marlene Alm (Don Allen) and Rhonda Keys of Bakersfield. She is survived by sons John (Shirley) Keys of Centralia, Washington, Billy (Margie) Keys of Redding, CA, and Larry Keys of San Francisco, CA. She is also survived by daughter-in-law Carol of Port Angeles, Washington. She was predeceased by husband John, a son Emory Keys and a grandson Joey Goslar. She is survived by 16 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren, 15 Great-great grandchildren and 1 GGG-grand- daughter. The family wishes to thank the staff at Canyonwood Rehabilitation and Care Facility for their abundant kindness and attention to our Mom in her final days. Jim had a special place in his heart for all of his friends, of whom there are too many to list. A Memorial Service is being held September 9 @ 11 am at Trinity Baptist church 900 S. Dora St. Ukiah.
